Mission and Outreach
The Mission & Outreach Committee offers parishioners the opportunity to respond personally to Jesus Christ's command to care for those in need. Financially, the Cathedral allocates 10% of its previous year's plate and pledge income (the Biblical tithe) to mission and outreach. In selecting recipients, the committee looks for multiple opportunities for long-term personal involvement, to appeal to a wide range of skills and to utilize interests amongst parishioners. Current Companion Relationships include a Christian school in Ramallah, West Bank; orphanages in Bulgaria; a center for abused girls in the Philippines, and an organization in Paris that supports LGBT youth from ages 16 to 26 who have been rejected by their families. In addition, the Cathedral participates in the Mission Lunch program for as many as 65 people in difficulty, spearheads the preparation of Love-in-a-Box gifts for needy children and trains adults at the Maison des Tilleuls in the Paris suburbs in simple computer skills.

Volunteers prepare and host hot, sit-down lunches every Friday for 65 people in difficulty seeking a balanced meal and acceptance in the warmth and safety of the Cathedral’s hospitality. Preparation and service of the lunches start at 10 am and usually end by 2 pm.
