Sunday Forum, 26 November: “The Servant King: Listening to the Gospel of Mark”

Mark_SundayForum.jpg

On the first Sunday of Advent 1, December 3, the church marks the start of a new liturgical year, and we begin a new lectionary cycle. For the next twelve months, the Gospel according to St Mark will provide the largest share of our Sunday readings, just as Matthew has done this past year. In this forum, parishioner Bill Tompson explores the distinctive features of Mark, the shortest and probably the earliest of the four gospels. Who (do we think) wrote it? To whom? And why? What makes Mark different from the other Gospels? Come to find out a bit of the back story to this extraordinary text and find out what to listen for over the Sundays to come.

Sunday November 26, 9:45am in the Fleetwood Room.
