Come hear the Paris Choral Society in Carmina Burana (Orff) & Schicksalslied (Brahms) on June 9 (8pm)/ June 10 (6pm), at the American Cathedral. Tickets on parischoralsociety.org or FNAC.
We will start with Brahms’ haunting Schicksalslied (“Song of Fate”), a short piece that is often known as Brahms’ mini-requiem. Then we move on to the exciting Carmina Burana with its iconic opening chorus “O Fortuna,” instantly recognizable from countless films and publicity ads.
Under the baton of the Cathedral's own Zachary Ullery, we will be accompanied on piano by Andy Dewar & Mihály Zeke, the percussion section of the Paris Symphonic Orchestra, 3 wonderful soloists (Amelia Berridge, Joseph Kauzman, and Florent Mbia), and the sweet voices of the American Cathedral Children's Choir (with some new members for this occasion).
