March 4: "What is “Lectio Divina”? "
Sunday Forum, 9:45am in the Fleetwood Room, American Cathedral in Paris.
Parishioner Julie Aubry introduces the a traditional Benedictine practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer known as Lectio Divina, or sacred reading. Intended as a means to promote communion with God and knowledge of God's Word, Lectio Divina is a four-step process for engaging Scripture not merely as a text to be studied but as a place where we can encounter God. The four steps are: Lectio — reading deeply, Meditatio — thinking deeply, Oratio — the prayer of the heart, and Contemplatio — rest.
