Ariel Rodrigues Lima is a Brazilian pianist, born in Belém-Pará, a city in the periphery of the Amazon. He started his music studies there, at the age of 5, on violin and cello. Self-taught at the piano, he began his formal studies at the age of 10, first at the music school of the Federal University of Pará and later at the Carlos Gomes Conservatory.
At the age of 17, he began a bachelor's degree in Composition and Arrangement at Pará State University, and dropped out of cello studies to devote himself solely to the piano. Two years later, he received a full scholarship to study piano at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris (ENMP), under the direction of Professor Guigla Katsarava. At the ENMP, he passed the examinations of the Teaching Diploma, the Diploma of Execution and the Higher Diploma of Teaching with the congratulations of the Jury, the highest mention of the institution.
He also took classes in Chamber Music with Mrs. Geneviève Martigny and Ms. Nina Patarcec. Today, he has performed in Brazil and France as a chamber musician and soloist, having played with the Young Vale Música Orchestra and the Peace Theater's Orchestre Symphonique, and has several times taken part in opera productions at the Festival. Opera House of the Peace Theater in Belém, his hometown.
“Les Dimanches Musicaux”, a series of free concerts organised by the Cathedral's musical association Les Arts George V, take place at the Cathedral on most Sundays throughout the year from September to November and from January to June. Concerts begin at 15H00 and last for approximately 50 minutes. Entry is free but donations are strongly encouraged! Read more on the LAGV website ↣
