Les Dimanches Musicaux: Women's Chamber Choir of St. Zlata Meglenska - Macedonia

The women's choir "St. Zlata Meglenska" is part of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and is the first of this type of choir in the Republic of Macedonia.

Letka Dimovska Polizova is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the choir, which is composed of 22 female voices belonging to young academics and students all from public universities of Skopje. Although volunteers, these young people contribute to the reputation of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, the Macedonian cultural tradition and the popularity of choral singing in an authentic and high quality way. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as by several embassies of the Republic of Macedonia abroad, the choir has performed an excellent international presentation and affirmation of traditional Macedonian music in the UK, in France, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, France, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Spain, Latvia, California, America, Australia, Austria, Canada, Russia , Ireland and other countries.

Summary of the main activities in the country of origin and abroad / awards: Grand Choir Games 2016 in Sochi, the choir has won three gold medals this year and the title of world champion in the category of female chamber choirs. 2014 Riga World Choral Games, two gold medals and one silver medal in 2011 California International Choral Competition - San Luis Obispo - Gold Medal, 2008 International Choral Competition - Grand Prix Rimini, 2007 Corale Festival Internazionale di Canto Popolare - Barcellona, Gold Medal, National Multicultural Festival 2006 - Canberra - Grand Prize, 1997 Music Festival - UK Grand Prix.

“Les Dimanches Musicaux”, a series of free concerts organised by the Cathedral's musical association Les Arts George V, take place at the Cathedral on most Sundays throughout the year from September to November and from January to June. Concerts begin at 15H00 and last for approximately 50 minutes. Entry is free but donations are strongly encouraged! Read more on the LAGV website
