Cathedral Forum: Can a Space be Sacred? (Part 2)

In the first of a two-part Forum, parishioner and theologian Anne-Marie Reijnen examines the irresistible lure of some places and the paths that lead to them: pilgrim sites and pilgrimages embody the universal human desire to call some places 'holy'.

The recently published Solitudes sacrées et villes saintes ( Bayard), which Anne-Marie edited, presents  a variety of religious experiences, all rooted in space and place, from Jerusalem and Rome to Geneva, to Cairo and Benares/ Varanasi, from the Mont Saint Michel and the Grande Chartreuse to the Amazonian forest.
