Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the Church, and the time when the Christian community welcomes new members into the Household of God. Infants, children, and adults are baptized during services on specific Sundays of the year and at the Great Vigil of Easter.

Baptisms are scheduled on the following Sundays:  The Baptism of Our Lord (the first Sunday after January 6th; Easter Vigil (actually the Saturday evening before Easter); Trinity Sunday (8 weeks after Easter and a special Sunday for the Cathedral as we are the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity), and All Saints Sunday (the first Sunday in November).  All baptisms take place at the 11:00 am service, with the exception of the Great Vigil of Easter, which is at 8:00 pm.  Private baptisms are generally not permitted except in unique pastoral circumstances.

See upcoming baptism dates here.

On the day before Baptism, parents and godparents (sponsors) are expected to participate in a two-hour Baptismal preparation led by Cathedral clergy. Parents seeking Baptism for their children must ordinarily be pledging members of the Cathedral who are actively committed to supporting the ministry of the Cathedral, worshiping regularly, and participating as deeply as possible in the life of the Cathedral.
