#MarchIntoEaster at the American Cathedral in Paris: Holy Monday with Timothy Thompson

Timothy Thompson, head of the Cathedral Flower Guild, shares the following meditation with us on this Holy Monday.

"As we begin Holy Week, my thoughts turn to the promise of Easter

and this poem by e.e. cummings:

i thank You God for most this amazing day

i thank You God for most this amazing day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)

how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginably You?

(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)."

The Flower Guild works to enhance worship at the Cathedral through flowers appropriate to the services of the liturgical year, and for weddings and funerals. The Flower Guild welcomes new members. A desire to participate is all the experience needed. Participation requires a commitment of about an hour, usually on a Saturday morning, to buy and arrange flowers. Members of the Flower Guild usually work in pairs arranging the flowers for the Cathedral. Those interested in becoming a member should contact the chair, Timothy Thompson, at tstthompsonphd@gmail.com.
