Every year, the American Cathedral in Paris offers a preparation for the Eucharist for children aged 7 and older who have been baptized. This is sometimes referred to as “First Communion class”, however it is not restricted to children who have never received Communion. In order to prepare the children for communion, we invite all children aged 7 and above who would like to participate in Children’s Communion Sunday (plus one parent with each child) to a half-day retreat, focused on the Holy Eucharist, at the Cathedral on Saturday, May 5th from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm.
The retreat will include the following:
- For the children, there will be instruction on the Eucharist through biblical stories in the Old and New Testaments, instructions on the customs for receiving Communion in the Episcopal Church, and a craft project.
- The parents will set up and organize a luncheon to be served for the whole group and assist with the craft project.
The Children’s Eucharist will take place during the 11 o’clock service on Sunday May 6th.
