Adult Christian Education: The Books of Acts + Lenten Study Group

Tuesday evenings at 7pm and Wednesday afternoons at 11am in the Fleetwood Room.

On March 12-13th, the Study group will begin this year’s Lenten Study: The Challenge of Jesus: Rediscovering Who Jesus Was and Is - based on N.T. Wright’s book by the same name. Today, a renewed and vigorous scholarly quest for the historical Jesus is underway. Wright’s lectures and writings have been widely recognized for providing a fresh, but provocative portrait. The Challenge of Jesus poses a double-edged challenge: to grow in our understanding of the historical Jesus within the Palestinian world of the first century, and to follow Jesus more faithfully into the postmodern world of the twenty-first century.

The main study will last through the weeks of Lent until Holy Week. Following a break at Easter time, the group will return to focus on a few of Wright’s commentaries before finishing up for the year.
