Sundays, October 1st and 8th, 9:45 a.m, Fleetwood Room
In this two-part series, parishioner Bill Tompson looks at the history of Jesus in the cinema, from the first public screenings in the 1890s to the present day. With the help of short clips from a wide range of Jesus films, he considers how and why film-makers have faced such challenges bringing Jesus to the silver screen, as well as the ways they have adapted the Gospel story to reflect their own concerns and agendas. Find out which cinematic Jesus was actually 24 years older than His mother and when Jesus actually speaks on screen for the first time (hint: it was later than you might think!).
