Sermon for the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, October 15


Our second reading on Sunday morning said:

Rejoice in the Lord always: again I will say, Rejoice.
The Lord is near.  Do not worry about anything…

Well, easy for Paul to say.  Rejoice always!  Do not worry about anything!  Don’t we wish.

In her Sunday Sermon, Dean Laird affirms that it is possible to know the reality of suffering and sadness, but also to know the greater reality of God’s love under and in all things.  And that is cause for rejoicing.
