Cathedral Forum: What is Imago Relationship Therapy?

This Sunday, parishioners Bruce and Francine Crapuchettes introduce Imago Relationship Therapy (IRT). IRT was developed by Harville Hendrix, PhD and his wife Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD., made well known by their New York Times best selling book, “Getting The Love You Want: A Guide for Couples” in the 1980s. It is a specific style of relationship therapy designed to help conflict become opportunities for healing and growth. The term imago is Latin for “image,” and within the context of IRT, it refers to an “unconscious image of the way our parents loved us.” IRT’s main method is a structured way of talking to each other and affirming each other’s reality. This is known as, “The Imago Dialogue”. Bruce and Francine are retired licensed psychologists living in Paris who specialized in working with people in relationship: couples, parents, and singles who want to be in relationship. Both have trained under Dr Hendrix and worked with IRT for many years .

This is a hybrid forum; please join us in the Parish Hall or on Zoom.
