As the Forum resumes this Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Tom Poynor will examine various aspects of late medieval triptychs and the ways in which they wrestled with the mystery of the Word becoming flesh. Some of the artists considered include Hans Memling, Jan Van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch. Tom currently serves as the Episcopal chaplain to UC Berkely. He is in Paris on sabbatical time to finish his dissertation on the theology of the Imagination and the Imago Dei at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He holds a theology master’s from the University of St Andrews, in Scotland, with a focus on aesthetics, and a master’s from Oxford examining the Holy Grail in the work of Dante Rossetti.
