Cathedral Forum: Mariann Edgar Budde

The Voice of the Church in the Public Square in Troubled Times

Parish Hall and Zoom, 10am

This week’s Forum will be led by the Rt Rev. Mariann Budde, the Bishop of Washington and our visiting preacher. Bishop Budde is the first female bishop of the diocese and prominent voice calling followers of Jesus to strive for justice and peace, and to respect the dignity of every human being. To that end, she is an advocate and organizer in support of justice concerns, including racial equity, gun violence prevention, immigration reform, the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons, and the care of creation. Earlier this year, she attracted international attention for her sermon at the interfaith prayer service following the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Bishop Budde is the author of three books, including, most recently, How We Learn to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith (2023).
